Here at Abington Park, we are looking for a Student Veterinary Nurse to join our team! This is a full-time fixed-term position. We see a variety of first opinion and referral cases, providing a great experience base for your veterinary nurse training.
We are situated in picturesque Northamptonshire, offering a wide range of sporting, recreational and cultural activities for all, with great links to London and Birmingham. We have a great team of 13 Veterinary Surgeons (majority of them are certificate holders), 18 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 4 Student Veterinary Nurses, 4 Kennel Assistants and a Lab Technician.
As a Student Veterinary Nurse, you will be supported and encouraged to develop both your clinical and non‑clinical skills while working towards qualification as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.
You’ll be an integral part of the practice team, supporting patient care under the guidance of Veterinary Surgeons and Registered Veterinary Nurses. You’ll gain hands‑on experience across a range of nursing duties while progressing through your training programme and developing confidence in your day‑to‑day practice.
This work pattern is Monday – Friday, excluding bank holidays. There is a weekend rotation working 8am-1pm on a Saturday with time given back in lieu.
You should be able to demonstrate your commitment and enthusiasm for the industry (through prior work experience and/or study) and have a proven track record as a hard‑working team player. A full driving licence is needed as you may be required to drive the practice ambulance to collect animals. Applicants should also be fit enough to cope with the physical demands of the role – lifting/restraining animals and cleaning.
