  • Help students develop their communication, social, emotional and organisational skills.
  • Support students who may experience barriers to learning, including difficulties with attention, communication, emotional regulation or social interaction.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote students' independence and self-esteem.
  • Contribute to the implementation of individual support plans and strategies.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, the SENCO, pastoral teams, parents/carers and external professionals where appropriate.
  • Monitor students' progress and contribute to reviews and feedback.
  • Support the wider life of the school and contribute to an inclusive, respectful and positive learning environment.
About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • Is patient, compassionate, resilient and approachable.
  • Has high expectations of every student and believes that all young people can succeed.
  • Can build positive relationships with students while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
  • Is able to remain calm and positive when faced with challenging situations.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is organised, reliable and able to work effectively as part of a busy school team.
  • Is willing to learn and develop their understanding of SEN and evidence-based support strategies.
  • Has experience working with young people with SEN/SEND (desirable but not essential).
  • Has previous experience in a school or educational setting (desirable).
What we can offer

We are proud to offer:

  • A welcoming and inclusive school community in the heart of Hackney.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people.
  • A supportive SEN and pastoral team.
