Job summary

East Dunbartonshire Council is seeking a Pupil Support Assistant to help children and young people with additional support needs within schools. The role is term-time, temporary until 30 June 2027, with pro-rated salary.

You will assist with personal care, support learning activities, and help maintain a safe school environment under the guidance of teaching staff. The position is peripatetic and may move between schools within the Authority.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children and young people with additional support needs is essential.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with children and young people.
• Willingness to support pupils both individually and in groups.
• A calm, tolerant manner and commitment to pupils' development.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils individually or in small groups as directed by the class teacher.
• Assist with pupils' personal care needs.
• Provide supervision for pupils in various school settings (playground, corridors, dining area, PE, trips).
• Contribute to school support programmes as advised by other professionals.
• Help maintain a safe and secure environment.
