Job summary

East Dunbartonshire Council is seeking a Pupil Support Assistant to provide support to children and young people with additional support needs in schools. The role is term-time, with a pro-rated salary, and is a temporary post up to 30 June 2027.

You will assist with personal care, support learning activities, and help maintain a safe, positive environment under the direction of teaching staff. PVG/Disclosure checks apply, and the council aims to create a welcoming, accessible interview process.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children and young people with additional support needs.
• Support pupils with personal care needs.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils individually or in small groups directed by the class teacher.
• Support pupils personal care needs.
• Provide supervision for pupils in playgrounds, corridors, dining areas, during PE or trips.
• Contribute to support programmes in the school setting.
• Ensure a safe and secure environment.
