Job summary

East Dunbartonshire Council is seeking a Pupil Support Assistant (PSA) to support children and young people with additional support needs in council schools. The role is temporary term-time until 30 June 2027, with potential continuation subject to funding and staffing needs.

You will help with personal care, assist with learning activities, and supervise pupils in multiple settings. The post is peripatetic, and PVG disclosures apply.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children and young people with additional support needs.
• Interest in pupils' development and well-being.
• Peripatetic role may require moving to other schools within the Authority.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils individually or in small groups as directed by the class teacher.
• Assist with pupils' personal care needs where required.
• Provide supervision for pupils in various school settings (playground, corridors, dining area, PE, trips).
• Contribute to support programmes and maintain a safe, secure environment.
• Establish positive relationships with children and young people through a tolerant, patient approach.
