Job description

Job Title: Student Support and Development Officer - School of Social Sciences, Faculty of Humanities

We are seeking to appoint a Student Support and Development Officer in the School of Social Sciences, Faculty of Humanities.

The Student Support and Wellbeing team provides welfare and pastoral support, manages mitigating circumstances, attendance, engagement monitoring, and other responsibilities within the school. The post holder will oversee the Student Support and Wellbeing Team and related processes within the School of Social Sciences.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in supporting welfare and delivering excellent student or customer experiences.
  • Proven track record of service improvement and development, ideally in a student-focused environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and influence teams and stakeholders.
  • Understanding of academic and pastoral support procedures for postgraduate and undergraduate education.
  • Significant experience in providing pastoral support.

Overall Purpose of the Job:

  1. Manage student success and development activities, working with diverse stakeholders, focusing on undergraduate and postgraduate taught students.
  2. Collaborate with Professional Services leaders to embed a culture of excellent service and continuous improvement, prioritizing the student experience.
  3. Support the delivery of strategies and activities that enhance the learning experience and meet the needs of UG and PGT students.
  4. Lead and manage the team responsible for these activities.
  5. Work flexibly across the University, taking on various roles to ensure the achievement of organizational priorities, operating as a unified team.
