Job summary

East Kent Colleges Group is seeking a proactive Student Progression Mentor to support students in their personal and academic development and help them become independent learners. The role supports disaffected young people to optimise learning opportunities and offers training in Mental Health First Aid, Autism Awareness, Counselling Concepts, Safeguarding and DUST referrals.

The post is 37 hours per week, 37 weeks per year during term time, with a pro rata salary of £20,167 per annum.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be committed to supporting students to achieve and progress.
• Excellent record keeping skills and competency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support students in their personal and academic development and help them reach their full potential as independent learners.
• Support disaffected and disengaged young people to optimise their learning opportunities.
• Maintain documentation and report to the relevant staff and departments.
• Be empathetic, supportive and non-judgmental in interactions with students.
