Job summary

The Warwick College Group invites applications for a role dedicated to supporting and mentoring students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities within their learning programmes. The post involves working across classrooms, workshops and practical areas to help students access their study programmes, including Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement (RARPA) and vocational qualifications.

Qualifications

• A good general education to Level 2.
• English and Maths skills equivalent to Level 2.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexibly as a member of the team.
• Willingness to undertake staff training, including Team Teach.
• Previous experience of working with young people.

Responsibilities

• Provide support in-class or mentoring outside the classroom and some personal care as directed.
• Assist with preparation and maintenance of materials or activities for named student use.
• Support on a 1:1 or small group basis to meet individual needs.
• Use strategies to empower and promote positive behaviours for independent learning.
• Contribute to record keeping including progress and performance on ProMonitor.
• Support students to access transport at the start and end of the day.
• Work closely with the Personal Learning Adviser to monitor and review targets.
• Make contact with parents by phone or in writing where appropriate.
• Attend department meetings and undertake mandatory training including Team Teach.
• Accompany and support students during work experience, trips, or off-site placements.
• Contribute to student reports as requested.
