Job summary

Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Student School Health Nurse to join the School Nursing service in Birmingham. The role combines practice with academic study, supported by Birmingham City University, with 50% study time during a 52-week course starting February 2027.

You must be a car driver with access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. The post offers development opportunities within a supportive team and exposure to community health settings.

Qualifications

• Current NMC registration is required.
• Academic credits criteria must be met.
• Portfolio evidence of ongoing development.
• Postgraduate SCPHN qualification requires an appropriate degree.
• Evidence of application to School Nursing Programme.
• Signed line manager approval to apply for secondment.
• Post-registration training.
• Mentorship qualification or progress towards it.

Responsibilities

• Be supported by university for 50% academic study during the course.
• Course starts 1 February 2027 with fixed holidays over 52 weeks.
• Must be a car driver with access to a vehicle for business use.
• Develop communication, leadership and reflective skills in practice.
• Welcoming newly qualified School Nurse into teams.
