Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a qualified School Nurse to join a caring pastoral and safeguarding team in Birmingham. You will promote health, wellbeing and welfare of pupils, provide professional medical support and ensure consistent care during the school day.

You will work with pupils, parents, teachers and external healthcare professionals, serving as a confidential point of contact for medical needs and health advice.

Qualifications

• Qualified nurse with current NMC registration.
• Experience working with children or young people.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and confidentiality.
• Ability to manage medical conditions and medications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and medical care to pupils and staff as needed.
• Maintain accurate confidential medical records.
• Develop healthcare plans for pupils with ongoing conditions.
• Support pupils with conditions like asthma, diabetes, allergies and epilepsy.
• Administer medications according to policy and obtain consent.
• Monitor pupils returning after illness or surgery and provide support.
• Liaise with parents, GPs, staff and external healthcare professionals.
• Contribute to safeguarding procedures and report concerns.
• Promote health and wellbeing across the school community.
