Job summary

Cheslyn Hay Academy in the Windsor Academy Trust is seeking a Student Refocus Lead to support students through the Refocus Room, helping them reset, reflect and return to lessons ready to learn.

You will collaborate with Heads of Year and staff to maintain high behaviour standards, provide mentoring, and build trusted relationships so every student can progress.

Qualifications

• Role focuses on managing the Refocus Room to support students in resetting and returning to class.
• Candidate will mentor and champion student success across the school.
• Ability to form strong, trusting relationships and de‑escalate tense situations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Refocus Room to support students with behavioral needs.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, Heads of Year and SLT to maintain high behaviour standards.
• Provide mentoring to students to help them return to lessons ready to learn.

You will be instrumental in helping drive a positive school culture by managing our Refocus Room, a dedicated space designed to help students reset, reflect and get back on track.

This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, resilient, and empathetic professional to act as a mentor and champion for student success. You will work closely with teaching staff, Heads of Year and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that high standards of behaviour and discipline are maintained across the school.

The Challenge & The Impact

The Refocus Room is used to support students who have struggled to meet behavioral expectations and you will regularly work with students who are frustrated, disengaged, or facing complex challenges.

This role requires the ability to rapidly form strong, trusting relationships with students, de‑escalating tense situations with calm authority. One of the main aims is to maintain a quiet, highly structured, and productive atmosphere so that students can seamlessly continue their academic work.
