Job summary

Cardiff University IT enrolment team requires assistant support to help students set up IT services, onboarding devices to Eduroam and enabling Multi-Factor Authentication. The role is on-site across campus, with face-to-face and email support during enrolment.

Hours are rota-based from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday (20 hours/week) for 6 weeks from 21 September 2026 to 30 October 2026, with weekend work on 26–27 September and a training day on 22 September.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional, friendly and customer focused support, you will act as a first point of contact to students within Cardiff University IT.
  • Contribute to the resolution of Student IT Setup queries, using training and documented procedures to help guide you.
  • Carry out assigned tasks and procedures effectively and efficiently to agreed levels of service.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to ensure high-quality services are provided according to customer needs.
  • Perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but will be consistent with the role.
  • Adhere to and promote the University IT Customer Care Policy.
  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, EC directives and the University’s Safety, Health and Environment Policies and procedures and to cooperate with the University on any legal duties placed on it as the employer.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in respect of equality and diversity, data protection, copyright and licensing, security, financial and other University policies, procedures and codes as appropriate.

Job description

Within University IT, the student support team will beavailable during enrolment to assist with setting up IT services such asonboarding devices to Eduroam and setting up Multi-Factor Authentication. Theteam will be located across campus to offer face to face advice to Students aswell as respond to email queries where needed.In this role you will berequired to provide customer support, signposting self-help instructions andwhere needed offering assistance for Students to setup their initial ITservices.

The hours of work will be on a rota basis between 9am and6pm, Monday to Friday (20 Hours per week) for 6 weeks, commencing 21stSeptember2026, and ending 30th October 2026.

In addition to this - weekend work will be required onthe 26th& 27th September. Training will be provided on the 22nd September. Please confirm your availability in your application.

4 successful applicants will have the opportunity to extendtheir contacts to cover the full academic year (commencing 2nd November 2026) at 15 hours a week - subject to performance & availability.
