WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
To become a Student Experience Coach in our Student Support Services department, we need someone who is "organised, motivational and committed."
The successful candidate will have the chance to acquire new skills and develop their abilities in a wide range of activities.
We have a variety of students from the surrounding area; we are a welcoming and inclusive community that champions diversity and equality across our college.
Our departments collaborate to establish and uphold the inclusive HoW culture, we keep this in mind as we manage interactions with the public, fellow employees, and nearby schools.
Although this position is centred on our Redditch and Bromsgrove campuses, all applicants must be prepared to travel to our other campuses or surrounding areas as required.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
To find a more detailed list of your day-to-day responsibilities, please refer to the key roles and accountabilities section on our Job Description. In summary, as someone who has knowledge and experience working with 16-18-year-olds, you will support in many aspects. To name a few:
- Plan, coordinate, and evaluate enrichment, personal development, and learner engagement activities.
- Organise student events, campaigns, conferences, Freshers' Fair, and charity initiatives.
- Promote student leadership, learner voice, volunteering, and community engagement opportunities.
- Support the development of student confidence, inclusion, wellbeing, active citizenship, and personal growth.
- Build effective partnerships with external organisations, guest speakers, and community stakeholders.
- Monitor participation, analyse impact, manage budgets, and produce reports to improve engagement and outcomes.
- Support safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, careers, and personal development strategies.
- Represent student needs and support college open events, student ambassador programmes, and student governance activities.

AIMS AND PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- To lead and coordinate meaningful learner participation activities that ensure learners influence decision-making, contribute to continuous improvement and shape an inclusive college culture where all students feel safe, respected, valued and able to belong.
- To organise and promote a range of health and wellbeing campaigns and resources to raise awareness of relevant issues that impact on students and signpost to support.
- To support the development of Social Action plans and reporting using 'Good for me, Good for FE' initiative, acts of kindness and 'I will' campaign.
- To further develop focus group activities for identified cohorts of learners to support equality, diversity and inclusion objectives.
- To develop opportunities that enhance learners' character, confidence, resilience, independence, leadership skills, aspiration and readiness for their next steps in education, employment and adult life.
- To develop activities and resources to prepare learners for life in modern Britain, by equipping them to be responsible, respectful, active citizens who contribute positively to society, developing their understanding of fundamental British values and their understanding and appreciation of diversity.
- Develop enrichment activities aligned to the enrichment framework to enhance personal development and the learner experience.
- To support the delivery of the College Personal Development Strategy and Enrichment Framework through activities that promote character development, wellbeing, employability, leadership, active citizenship, cultural capital and preparation for adulthood.
- Managing the Hub space and creating and promoting inclusive, welcoming and psychologically safe environments where learners from all backgrounds, including vulnerable, disadvantaged and underrepresented groups, experience a strong sense of belonging and participation.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- To organise the College's Freshers' Fair in September of each year.
- To plan, coordinate and evaluate an annual programme of enrichment activities aligned to the College Enrichment Framework, THRIVE Tutorial Programme and Personal Development Strategy.
- To support and organise charity events throughout the year.
- To monitor and evaluate learner participation in enrichment activities and identify strategies to improve engagement amongst underrepresented learner groups.
- To coordinate social action, volunteering and community engagement activities that promote active citizenship, inclusion, sustainability and positive contribution to society.
- To ensure that the budget set aside for these purposes is efficiently spent and effectively monitored.
- To facilitate and oversee the provision of qualified guest speakers to deliver the health and wellbeing campaigns.
- To identify the recreational, social and cultural needs of students in order to facilitate their personal development. Organise and promote a programme of activities to meet their identified needs.
- To maintain good order and discipline among the students and to safeguard their health and safety both on the College premises and when engaged in authorised College activities elsewhere.
- Promote good working relationships between the College and relevant external agencies.
- Supporting the development of Student Ambassadors.
- To develop student leadership opportunities including Student Ambassadors, Student Governors, focus groups, and social action projects.
- To support students in developing the confidence, skills and behaviours required to become active contributors within the college and wider community.
- To organise and run the Student Conference.
- To represent the needs of students and help meet their social and educational needs.
- To develop and co-ordinate the FE Learner Voice Framework across the College and provide administrative support as required.
- To support the implementation of the College Inclusion Strategy, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, Careers Strategy and Personal Development Strategy.
- To actively promote equality of opportunity, celebrate diversity and ensure learner participation activities engage students from all protected characteristic groups.
- To contribute to the promotion of safeguarding, wellbeing and Prevent priorities through awareness campaigns, learner engagement activities and partnership working.
- To attend and support College open events.
- To provide support to the Clerk to the Corporation in the election of the Student Governor post.
- Produce analytical reports on learner voice, enrichment and student participation activities, identifying emerging themes, trends, impact and areas for improvement.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Refer to other members of the business support teams and other appropriate agencies to assist students to remain on course, return to College, or transfer effectively to alternative provision.
- Support members of the Information Systems and Student Experience Department in meeting the needs of students or College objectives.
- Contribute to the review and evaluation of Student Experience systems and procedures.
- Ensure a full working knowledge and understanding of courses and other services at the College.
- To undertake duties as a First Aider

- To comply with the requirement of the Health and Safety at Work Regulations. To take reasonable care for the health and safety of themself and for others affected by their work in ensuring that the Health and Safety responsibilities are carried out.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
The appointment is subject to the Conditions of Service for Business Support Staff.
SALARY
The salary range for this post is based on scale 4E. Your starting salary will range from £25,724 to £27,961 dependent upon your qualifications and experience. Once you have successfully passed your probationary period, your salary will increase within the salary band on an annual incremental basis, until you reach the top of the salary scale.
HOURS OF WORK
The hours of work will be based on 37 hours per week for 52 weeks per year.
ANNUAL LEAVE
As this is a term time only appointment you will receive a payment in lieu of holiday, which is in addition to your salary. You will also be paid for any Statutory Bank Holidays and concessionary days which fall within your working week.
PENSION SCHEME
The College operates an occupational pension scheme, namely the 'Local Government Pension Scheme'.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD
All newly appointed staff have to serve a 4-month probationary period. During the probationary period you will have to complete the corporate staff induction, a Teaching and Learning Induction session if you deliver learning and additional mandatory courses on: Equality & Diversity session, Keeping Children safe in Education, Safeguarding Training session, Prevent, GDPR, Cyber Security and Health & Safety training session. Failure to complete these will prevent you from successfully completing your probation.
FIRST AID & FIRE MARSHALL
As defined in the person specification of the job description, those staff with these responsibilities are required to undertake first aid and or fire marshal duties across the College, when called upon to do so. Staff must ensure they are up to date with the relevant training.
REFERENCES
Please note that without 2 satisfactory references being received before the end of the probationary period, new staff will not be able to successfully pass their probationary.
LOCATION
The successful applicant will be based at Redditch and Bromsgrove campuses but may be required to work at other locations from time to time.
VALIDATION OF QUALIFICATIONS
The College will undertake qualification validation by writing to the appropriate educational institute. Only those qualifications which are essential for the post will be followed up.
CONTRACTUAL REQUIREMENT TO OBTAIN A QUALIFICATION
If you are required to obtain a qualification as a contractual requirement, the College reviews its CPD budget on an annual basis regarding availability of funds, and cannot therefore guarantee that newly appointed staff will receive either part or full funding for the course fees. However, student loan facilities are available.
MATHS AND ENGLISH
All staff are required to have a minimum level 2 qualification in both English and Maths. If you are not already in receipt of one or both of these qualifications, you will be expected to obtain it (them) during your employment at the College.
SAFEGUARDING
The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
All newly appointed staff will be required to undertake safeguarding training following their appointment.
Heart of Worcestershire College adheres to the Department of Education's guidance on 'Keeping children safe in Education'. As part of your induction, you will be required to read and understand part 1 of this document.

All successful applicants will be required to complete and pay for a Disclosure & Barring Service check. The costs of this check will be deducted from the applicants first salary payment from the College. The College adheres to the DBS Code of Practice and has policies covering the Recruitment of Ex-Offenders and the Secure Storage, Handling, Use, Retention and Disposal of Disclosures and Disclosure Information.
