Job summary

Stanmore College is seeking a Student Liaison Officer to provide proactive pastoral support, focusing on improving attendance, punctuality and engagement. You will work with students, parents and staff to ensure learners stay on track and achieve their goals within a supportive college environment.

You will engage with Personal Tutors and support services to deliver targeted interventions, maintain records and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning atmosphere across the campus.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people aged 16–19.
• Coaching or mentoring approach to improve attendance and engagement.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and parents.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Monitor attendance and punctuality, identify patterns of concern and put appropriate support interventions in place.
• Engage, motivate and mentor students to improve attendance, behaviour and engagement with their studies.
• Work closely with Personal Tutors, Curriculum Managers and support teams to provide coordinated support for students.
• Maintain a visible presence across College, particularly at key times, to support positive behaviour and attendance.
• Work with parents and carers to address attendance and behavioural concerns and support positive outcomes.
• Deliver one-to-one and occasional group pastoral sessions for students at risk of poor attendance, behavioural concerns or academic failure.
• Develop and monitor individual attendance and behaviour support plans, including targets and progress reviews.
• Monitor student behaviour and follow up concerns in liaison with curriculum and support staff.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure student information is kept up to date.
• Support induction and initial assessments, helping identify students who may require additional support.
• Build positive relationships with students and contribute to a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
