An exciting opportunity awaits at a forward-thinking university, where you can lead a dedicated team focused on enhancing the experience of disabled students. As a Student Disability Team Leader, you'll navigate complex casework, collaborate across departments, and develop student-centric processes that ensure inclusivity and operational excellence. This role not only offers the chance to make a significant impact within the university community but also provides generous benefits, including a holiday allowance and access to health and fitness facilities. Join a vibrant organization committed to equality and diversity, and help shape a supportive environment for all students.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the University of Southampton as a Student Disability Team Leader in the Student Disability and Inclusion team. Sitting within the Student Support Directorate, our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality, seamless support and advice for disabled students within the framework of the Equality Act 2010. This includes students with long-term physical or mental health conditions, neurodivergent students (such as those with autism and ADHD), and those without a formal diagnosis of disability.
You'll be based in our open-plan office on Highfield campus, with occasional work from other campuses as needed. We offer the flexibility of occasional home working and require occasional weekend and evening work for university-wide events such as open days, graduation, and transition days for new students. This role requires an enhanced DBS check.
We are looking for an enthusiastic leader who is passionate about inclusivity and committed to enhancing the experience of disabled students. Successful candidates will hold a relevant degree or be able to demonstrate an equivalent skill level and/or hold a relevant specialist qualification. Proven management experience in a related field (such as disability advisors, occupational health, or specialist teaching) is welcomed.
You will bring experience in working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary contexts, ensuring that coordination of support is handled effectively. An understanding of working within a Higher Education setting would be beneficial, but your ability to lead teams is paramount.
As well as additional benefits that will make your life easier, such as a generous holiday allowance and additional university closure days, we will support your long-term future too, with access to the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), subsidised health and fitness facilities and a range of discounts. We believe equality, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to making the University of Southampton a welcoming, vibrant, and successful organisation. Having a diverse workforce, inclusive of people of all ages and beliefs, from different racial, educational, and social backgrounds opens up a wealth of possibilities, makes us more creative and accelerates our impact on society. We welcome applicants that value the diversity of our community and are willing to play their part in supporting the mission of inclusivity.
