Job summary

Cheshire College South & West is seeking a Personal Development Tutor to deliver group tutorials and pastoral support at the Crewe Campus. You will support students with employability, British Values, Equality and Diversity, and help them develop resilience to succeed.

The role requires a Level 3 qualification and GCSEs, with strong mentoring skills. You will work 37 hours per week across 38 weeks per year and join an institution committed to safeguarding and student success.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification is required.
• GCSEs C (4/5) in English and Maths (or equivalent) required.
• Excellent personal tutor, advisor or mentor skills.
• Excellent knowledge of tutorial themes.
• Ability to deliver effective group tutorial sessions, including sensitive topics.
• Experience delivering to groups of young people (16–18).
• Good working knowledge of target setting and review methods.
• Ability to work with empathy and sensitivity.
• Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Deliver group tutorial sessions and activities covering personal development themes (Employability, British Values, Equality and Diversity, PREVENT).
• Conduct effective personal inductions for students and support belonging and resilience.
• Meet with managers/staff to discuss pastoral concerns and refer students to specialists if needed.
• Support learner participation in enrichment and learner voice activities.
• Support students with academic/personal progress and review against targets.
• Use systems to monitor attendance and address concerns.

Education

Level 3 qualification

GCSEs C (4/5) in English and Maths
