Hours of work: 14 hours per week

Weeks: Term time only, 40 weeks per year

Salary: £10,824 - £11,485 actual salary (FTE £31,146 - £33,042)

Location: Castleford College

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Fully Qualified Counsellor to join our Student Experience team. As a Student Counsellor, you will be part of a small team providing 1:1 counselling to students across the Group, working closely to ensure high-level support for all students receiving counselling.

This role involves delivering 1:1 counselling face-to-face, via telephone, or Microsoft Teams. You will liaise with external agencies and other support staff within the College to meet students' needs appropriately, maintaining multi-disciplinary boundaries.

As a Student Counsellor, you should:

  • Be educated to a minimum postgraduate level 5 diploma in counselling in either an Integrative, Humanistic, or Person-Centred model
  • Hold GCSE A* - C / 9 - 4 in English and Maths or Level 2 equivalent
  • Be registered with a professional organisation accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA), e.g., BACP

You should also be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of working in a post-qualifying counselling role with appropriate supervision
  • Experience and understanding of the concerns of young people
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good administrative and IT skills related to report writing and maintaining statistical records
