Job summary

Leicester Students’ Union is seeking creative Content Creators to join its Content Creator Network. You will produce engaging content across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and blogs to inform and entertain new students.

Ideal candidates are current University of Leicester students with strong storytelling, on-camera presence, and skills in editing or photography. The role offers flexible hours and an hourly rate, with opportunities to showcase your creativity and gain real-world experience.

Qualifications

• Currently a University of Leicester student.
• Strong communication and creative skills.
• Capable of meeting deadlines and working independently or in a team.
• Comfortable on camera or with voice-over.

Responsibilities

• Produce short-form and long-form video content and photography for multiple platforms.
• Cover events and create engaging blogs about student life.
• Work within the Content Creator Network and meet brief deadlines.

About the role

As part of the Content Creator Network, you will produce engaging original content that informs, entertains and engages our audiences across a variety of platforms. We are looking for creators who can produce scroll-stopping content which could include:

• Short-form Video: Generating ideas for Instagram Reels and Tik Toks, spotting trends, producing the videos and writing great captions
• Long-form Video: Generating ideas for our Youtube channel
• Photography: We host a lot of events and we’d love to get more coverage of them through brilliantly shot imagery
• Event coverage: Capturing moments from events, election days, Freshers etc
• Blogs: Writing for our website about Student Union life

Our ideal creators are…

• Current University of Leicester students.
• Strong communicators with creative skills.
• Confident working independently and in a team.
• Able to work towards deadlines.
• Comfortable on camera and confident engaging with fellow students.
• Experienced in at least one of the following - video editing, photography and blogging.
• Comfortable taking feedback and making revisions to submitted work
• There is a section where we ask about diversity. At Leicester, we have a vastly diverse student body, and as a Students’ Union, we have a commitment to reflect this. • There is a task to complete and upload, which involves creating an original piece of content (details below).

Your brief: Create an Instagram Reel (between 30-60 seconds) about what Leicester Students’ Union does.

Your audience: New students to the University

• You do not have to cover every service we offer. You could focus on one in detail. You could feature a few briefly. Your choice!
• This is your chance to show off! We are looking for your creative treatment, accuracy and ability to convey information in an engaging way. Consider how you would grab people’s attention in the first few seconds, who your audience is, how clear your message is, how you would bring it to life (Music? Editing? Text?)
• We would like you to be featured on camera as we are looking to gauge how confident you are on screen. If you would rather not, we would at the very least like your voice to be featured as a voice over.
• Please film/edit the video using your own equipment and any editing software or app you’re comfortable with.

Shortlisting

All applications will be gathered by our HR department and then sent to the recruiting manager to review. The applications will also be sent to the recruitment panel for discussion. Successful applicants will be invited to a Teams interview in October 2026.
