Job summary

Hednesford Valley High School is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Student Behaviour Support Officer to join our SEND and Inclusion team. This role supports students who may experience barriers to learning due to behaviour, emotional regulation, attendance, engagement or wellbeing.

You will develop and deliver targeted interventions, including one-to-one and small-group work, and work with school therapy dog programmes to aid engagement and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children or young people with challenging behaviour or additional needs.
• Ability to build positive relationships with young people while maintaining boundaries.
• Calm, resilient, and able to respond to changing situations.
• Understands behaviour can signal underlying needs and supports regulation.
• Plan, deliver and evaluate targeted interventions.
• Organised, proactive and able to work independently or in a wider team.
• Effective communication with students, families, colleagues and external professionals.
• Willing to undertake relevant training and professional development.
• Holds a clean driving licence and is willing to undertake minibus driver training; driving would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Respond to behaviour incidents and support students to regulate and reintegrate into learning.
• Plan and deliver targeted one-to-one and small-group interventions.
• Deliver structured therapeutic and wellbeing interventions, including planned work involving the school's therapy dog.
• Develop and facilitate appropriate community-based interventions to build confidence and resilience.
• Develop positive relationships with external organisations and community partners.
• Monitor behaviour information using Arbor and provide data for intervention planning.
• Support the successful reintegration after suspension or difficulties.
• Work with teaching staff, SEND teams, parents/carers and external professionals.

This is an exciting and varied role supportingstudents who may experience barriers to learning as a result of behaviour,emotional regulation, attendance, engagement or wellbeing. Working closely withstudents and staff, you will provide both responsive behaviour support andplanned, targeted interventions to help young people regulate, re-engage andparticipate successfully in education.

A key part of the role will be developing anddelivering purposeful interventions tailored to individual student needs. Thesemay take place individually, in small groups, within the wider community orthrough the school's therapeutic and wellbeing provision, includingstructuredinterventions involving our school therapy dog.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to behaviourincidents and support students to regulate and successfully reintegrateinto learning.
• Plan and deliver targetedone-to-one and small-group interventions to improve behaviour, engagement,attendance and wellbeing.
• Deliver structuredtherapeutic and wellbeing interventions, including planned work involvingthe school's therapy dog.

• Develop positiverelationships with external organisations and community partners tobroaden the range of intervention opportunities available to students.
• Monitor behaviourinformation usingArbor, identify patterns and provide clearinformation to support intervention planning and evaluation.
• Support the successfulreintegration of students following suspension, periods away from lessonsor other significant difficulties.
• Act as the school'sSCIPrCo-ordinator, supporting consistent practice and ensuring associatedrecords and legal documentation are completed accurately.
• Work collaboratively withteaching staff, the pastoral and SEND teams, parents/carers and externalprofessionals to promote positive outcomes for students.
