Job summary

Leventhorpe Academy in Sawbridgeworth is seeking a compassionate Behaviour Support Mentor to aid students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs. You will work with teachers, pastoral teams and external professionals to implement personalised strategies, modelling calm and empathetic responses to promote inclusion and positive behaviour.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs in Maths and English at 4-9 (A*-C) required.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Understanding of effective behaviour management in education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide students with behaviour support 1:1 or in small groups.
  • Lead on restorative interventions to support positive resolution of conflicts.
  • Plan and deliver relational practice plans for identified students.
  • Contribute to the running of the Inclusion room.
  • Support students being on time to lessons and maintain a calm learning environment.
  • Communicate with parents/carers regarding student behaviour.
  • Attend relevant meetings as required.

About this Role

Salary: HCC H6 Scale 14-19* actual salary£25,775 - £27,922 perannum including outer fringe allowance, basedon 37 hours per week, term time only plus 3 days

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Fridaywith an 8.00am start, term time only plus 3 days

*Full-time equivalent salary = H6 Scale 14-19 £30,269 - £32,790(including outer fringe allowance of £729 pa)

We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Behaviour SupportMentor to join our team and play a vital role in supporting students withsocial, emotional, and behavioural needs. This role is grounded in theprinciples of relational practice, focusing on promoting inclusion, emotionalregulation and positive behaviour through a reflective and consistent approach.

You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams andexternal professionals to help implement personalised strategies that reducebarriers to learning. By modelling calm, empathetic responses and helpingstudents understand their behaviour, you will contribute to a nurturing andsupportive school culture where all students can thrive.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individualto contribute towards the development of the school's behaviour interventionsprovision. The successful candidate will possess a high level of initiative andthe skills and confidence to deal with challenging situations.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing students with behaviour supporton a 1:1 basis or in small groups
  • To lead on restorative interventions,which aim to support students positively and sensitively resolve conflict
  • To plan and deliver relational practiceplans to identified students
  • To contribute to the effective running ofthe Inclusion room
  • To support students being on time tolessons throughout the school day
  • To have a high-profile during lessons andunstructured times (break and lunch), ensuring good punctuality and helping to promotea calm and productive learning environment
  • Supporting detentions and assisting callouts where needed
  • To communicate with parents/carersregarding student behaviour and establish positive relationships
  • Keeping accurate records of meetings andphone calls with parents/carers
  • Attending and participating in relevantmeetings as required

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess GCSEor equivalent qualifications in Maths and English at 4-9 (A*-C)
  • Have knowledge and understanding ofthe different social, cultural and physical needs of students
  • Have a strong understanding ofeffective behaviour management in the educational setting
  • Have an interest in how childrenlearn and behave
  • Possess the ability to build andmaintain positive relationships with students
  • Have the ability to listen andunderstand but not tolerate poor behaviour
  • Be a strong presence around theschool and be a role model to our students
  • Reallycare about children, particularly those who find learning and managing theirbehaviour difficult
  • Promoteself-esteem and confidence and help students to become emotionally healthy
  • Communicateeffectively and appropriately to students with different abilities andbackgrounds
  • Workeffectively with the staff team and wider school community
  • Becomputer literate
  • Attendtraining courses considered appropriate for the post
