Job summary

Vision for Education Ltd is seeking an experienced Behavioural Support Assistant to work in a dedicated SEN school in Stourbridge on a full-time basis. This temporary role offers potential progression to permanent for the right candidate, and being a driver is advantageous due to location.

You will support Primary and Secondary students with social, emotional and behavioural development, provide 1:1 or small group support, and collaborate with teachers to promote positive behaviour, engagement

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children and young people with SEN (autism, ADHD, emotional/behavioural needs)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with students
  • DBS check and references required or available

Responsibilities

  • Support students 1:1 or in small groups in classroom or therapeutic settings.
  • Help students understand and regulate emotions, promoting self-awareness and self-regulation.
  • Record incidents, triggers, responses and progress using agreed formats.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents and other professionals to promote consistent behaviour management.

Job description

Vision for Education is seeking an experienced Behavioural Support Assistant to work in an SEN School in Stourbridge on a full-time basis.

This role will be offered on a Temporary basis with a possibility to become a Permanent role for the right candidate.

It would be advantageous to be a driver for this role due to location.

About the role:
  • Working with Primary and Secondary aged students.
  • The Behaviour Support Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting students with their social, emotional, and behavioural development within the school setting.
  • Support students in understanding and regulating their emotions, promoting self-awareness and self-regulation skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a consistent and supportive approach to behaviour management, to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement with learning or daily activities
  • Provide 1:1 or small group support in classrooms or therapeutic settings.
  • Record incidents, triggers, responses, and progress using agreed formats.
About the school:
  • This school offers specialised education for students aged 7 to 19, focusing on supporting those with Autism, ADHD, challenging behaviour, Social Emotional Mental Health needs, physical and learning difficulties, including visual impairment.

About you:

To be considered for the Behavioural Support Assistant position, you will:

  • Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism, and sensory needs.
  • Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.
  • Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students
  • Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
