Job summary

National Highways is hiring a Senior Structures Engineer to lead asset data evaluation and the development of early solutions for highway structures. The role covers Bridges and other assets, with delivery oversight across the Yorkshire and North East region.

You will produce briefs for contractors, support surveys, and ensure buildability, costs and values are considered. The role is based from offices in Leeds, Wakefield or Darlington, and requires driving with up to 3 points.

Qualifications

• Chartered or Incorporated Civil/Structural Engineer with relevant experience.
• Experience in highway structures management, inspection, assessment and design.
• Knowledge of DMRB standards, Eurocodes and related working practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate identification and evaluation of asset data and needs to develop early solutions.
• Develop early solutions for improvements/renewals and value management options.
• Monitor delivery of early solutions and liaise with teams to rectify issues.

Job description

• Lead and coordinate the activities and resources involved in the identification and evaluation of asset data and needs in order to develop early solutions, in line with agreed methodologies and prioritisation criteria.
• Lead the development of early solutions for improvements and/or renewals, including the compiling and checking of relevant documents, evidence and options for value management, taking into account new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs.
• Monitor the delivery of agreed early solutions and plans, liaising with the relevant teams to identify and/or rectify issues.
• Identify, prepare briefs and support delivery of survey works that support the improvement and/or renewal of assets.
• Develop the technical briefs provided to the design and construction contractors for improvement and renewals work.
  A Chartered or Incorporated Civil or Structural Engineer with appropriate experience, or equivalent
• Experience in Highway Structures management, inspection, assessment and design.
• Working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards, methods of working & Specification for Highway Works and Eurocodes.
• Degree or HND in relevant discipline
• Knowledge of Construction Design Management 2015 and associated duties.
  National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Structures Engineer to join our team in the Yorkshire and North East region on a permanent basis. The Senior Structures Engineer will provide technical expertise in the Asset Management and maintenance of Highway structures assets. As a Structures Engineer, you will lead on the development of structures (Bridges and other structures) asset management documents such as management of substandard structures, management of post tensioned structures.
• This role can be based from one of our offices in Leeds, Wakefield or Darlington.
