Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Senior Structures Engineer to lead the management of highway structures assets in the Yorkshire and North East region. You will coordinate data capture, assessments and options for renewals, driving value-based decisions and fit-for-purpose solutions.

The role involves developing technical briefs for design and construction teams and ensuring delivery aligns with DMRB and Eurocodes. Offices in Leeds, Wakefield or Darlington; travel required.

Qualifications

• Experience in Highway Structures management, inspection, assessment and design.
• Knowledge of DMRB standards and Eurocodes.
• Driving licence with permit to travel across regions.
• Chartered/Incorporated engineer status or eligible.

Job description

• Lead the development of early solutions for improvements and/or renewals, including the compiling and checking of relevant documents, evidence and options for value management, taking into account new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs.
• Monitor the delivery of agreed early solutions and plans, liaising with the relevant teams to identify and/or rectify issues.
• Identify, prepare briefs and support delivery of survey works that support the improvement and/or renewal of assets.
• Develop the technical briefs provided to the design and construction contractors for improvement and renewals work.
  A Chartered or Incorporated Civil or Structural Engineer with appropriate experience, or equivalent
• Experience in Highway Structures management, inspection, assessment and design.
• Working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards, methods of working & Specification for Highway Works and Eurocodes.
• Degree or HND in relevant discipline
• Knowledge of Construction Design Management 2015 and associated duties.
  National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Structures Engineer to join our team in the Yorkshire and North East region on a permanent basis. The Senior Structures Engineer will provide technical expertise in the Asset Management and maintenance of Highway structures assets. As a Structures Engineer, you will lead on the development of structures (Bridges and other structures) asset management documents such as management of substandard structures, management of post tensioned structures.
• This role can be based from one of our offices in Leeds, Wakefield or Darlington.
