Job summary

Network Rail in London Blackfriars is looking for an Asset Engineer Structures (R&E) to determine renewal requirements and develop renewal and enhancement schemes in line with engineering policies.

You will inspect proposals, perform risk assessments, support route business plans, and ensure schemes meet project remits while maintaining up-to-date asset records. A HNC/HND or degree in civil/structural engineering and membership progression are preferred.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Substantial relevant experience in structures or civil engineering.
• A sound knowledge of structures engineering policies and standards.
• Knowledge of Structures Assessment.
• An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques.
• Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution.
• Degree in a relevant subject.
• Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer.
• Member of a relevant professional institution.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and prioritise renewal proposals for inclusion in the Structures (R&E) engineering workbank.
• Undertake engineering analysis and risk assessments of assets or asset components.
• Provide support to the production and prioritisation of a route business plan.
• Develop allocated renewal and enhancement schemes to meet Network Rail's goals.
• Follow handover and ensure renewal requirements are interpreted and changes approved.
• Specify acceptance criteria for Structures (R&E) engineering works including design approval.
• Audit acceptance processes as required.
• Review renewal proposals with asset management and project teams to optimise activity.
