Job summary

Network Rail is recruiting a structures-focused engineer to apply asset management processes to structures assets, based on condition, value and regulatory targets. You will inspect, assess and monitor assets, providing engineering expertise across Building & Civils Asset Management and other functions.

You will schedule examinations, prioritise mitigation actions, conduct risk assessments, and support strategy development for renewals and enhancements within the route and regional programmes.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Substantial relevant experience in structures or civil engineering.
• A sound knowledge of structures engineering policies and standards.
• Knowledge of Structures Assessment.
• An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques.
• Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution.
• Keeping people safe on the railway is at the heart of everything we do; safety awareness is essential.

Responsibilities

• Schedule examinations, inspections, monitoring and assessment of structures assets and the evaluation of the reports.
• Prioritise actions to address defects and issues, and oversee work item handovers to realise outputs.
• Undertake engineering analysis and cost assessments for schemes and business cases.
• Monitor asset condition and failure precursors to inform renewal plans and objectives.
• Support enhancement schemes and interface with network capability programmes.
• Develop and disseminate best practices and update standards.
