Job summary

HSB (UK and Ireland) is seeking a Claims Handler to join the Operations division at Birkenhead Head Office. You will manage a caseload of Structural Warranty claims, act as the main contact for policyholders, and ensure fair, timely decisions in line with FCA regulations and internal procedures.

You will work with Claims Team Leaders, the Head of Claims and other stakeholders to deliver positive customer outcomes, maintain claim files, and contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience handling insurance claims with high service standards.
• Knowledge of FCA regulations and their application to claims handling.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of new and existing Structural Warranty claims within delegated authority.
• Act as the main point of contact for policyholders throughout the claims lifecycle.
• Handle inbound calls and correspondence with clear guidance on the process.
• Gather, review and record information and documentation for claims assessment.
• Assess claims fairly to ensure appropriate coverage decisions.
• Proactively manage reserves and settle valid claims promptly.
• Handle declinatures and appeals in line with policy terms and FCA requirements.
• Collaborate with insurers, solicitors, surveyors and internal teams to progress claims.
• Identify potential recovery opportunities with the Recoveries Team.
• Ensure fair treatment of customers, including those who may be vulnerable.
