Job summary

Linear Recruitment is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Project Manager to join a major data centre project in Cambois, Northumberland. You will oversee the delivery of structural steel packages, coordinating with contractors and site teams to ensure safe, on-time completion.

The role requires proven PM experience in structural steelwork, erection and coordination of complex construction activities; SMSTS and CSCS are preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Project Manager within structural steelwork.
• Strong knowledge of steel fabrication, erection and installation.
• Experience coordinating multiple contractors and interfaces on major projects.
• Good understanding of health & safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage the structural steel package from planning through installation and completion.
• Oversee steelwork contractors, subcontractors and site teams.
• Coordinate steelwork with the wider construction programme and other trades.
• Monitor progress, programme and quality across the package.
• Liaise with client, consultants and design teams to resolve issues.
• Review drawings and installation requirements; ensure compliance with specs.
• Maintain accurate project records and progress updates.
• Drive delivery of package in line with milestones.

Structural Steel Project Manager

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Structural Steel Project Manager to join a major data centre scheme in Cambois, Northumberland.

This is a significant project requiring a strong project management background, with particular experience in structural steelwork, steel erection and the coordination of complex construction activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of structural steel packages, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality and programme standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the structural steel package from planning and coordination through to installation and completion.
• Oversee structural steel contractors, subcontractors and site teams.
• Coordinate steelwork activities with the wider construction programme and other trades.
• Monitor progress, programme, quality and health & safety across the package.
• Liaise with the client, consultants, design teams and other project stakeholders.
• Review drawings, specifications, fabrication details and installation requirements.
• Identify and resolve technical, logistical and programme issues.
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with project specifications and relevant standards.
• Maintain accurate project records, reports and progress updates.
• Drive the successful delivery of the package in line with project milestones.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Project Manager within structural steelwork.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, erection and installation.
• Experience managing steelwork packages on major commercial, industrial or data centre projects.
• Ability to coordinate multiple contractors and manage complex interfaces.
• Strong understanding of construction programmes, quality control and health & safety.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Relevant construction qualifications, with SMSTS and CSCS preferred.
