About the Role

Our client, a distinguished engineering firm specializing in industrial facilities, is seeking an accomplished Structural Steel Design Engineer to join their team in Randburg, Gauteng . This role is integral to the design and integrity of steel structures for various industrial applications, including manufacturing plants, warehouses, and processing facilities. You will be responsible for detailed structural analysis, design calculations, and the preparation of fabrication drawings. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with structural steel design codes and standards, and a keen eye for detail. Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for steel structures using industry-standard software.
• Develop detailed design calculations, drawings, and specifications for steel components and connections.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African and international steel design codes (e.g., SANS, AISC).
• Liaise with fabricators, erectors, and clients to ensure design intent is met during construction.
• Conduct site visits for inspection and verification during the construction phase.
• Review shop drawings and respond to fabrication queries.
• Assist in the preparation of tender documents and technical proposals.
• Mentor and guide junior structural engineers and technicians.
• Stay updated on advancements in steel design technology and materials in Randburg.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is preferred.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience specifically in structural steel design.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SAP2000) and CAD software.
• In-depth knowledge of steel design principles, connection design, and material behavior.
• Experience with industrial facility design is a strong advantage.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to manage project deliverables and coordinate with project teams in Gauteng.
• Valid driver's license.
