Job summary

Tulloch Engineering is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern based in Ontario to join a team serving private and government clients on bridges, buildings, and utility-scale facilities. The role reports to the Project Manager and offers exposure to pre-engineering inspections, design, and tender support.

You should hold a university degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, have 0–3 years of experience, be proficient in AutoCAD, and be willing to travel.

Qualifications

• University degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required or preferred).
• 0–3 years of experience in civil/structural consulting.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is expected.
• BCIN knowledge is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-engineering inspections and surveys.
• Review technical deliverables including reports, drawings, and calculations.
• Prepare plans, proposals, specifications, and permit applications.
• Perform preliminary and detailed design for structural projects (bridges, buildings).
• Assist with tenders, proposals, and cost estimates.
• Participate in public and stakeholder consultation.
• Perform construction inspections.
• Assist with project management and construction administration.

Salary Range: $75,000 – $92,000 annually

Structural Engineering Intern

Based in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, the Structural Engineering Intern will report to the Project Manager and will have a wide range of duties. You will be part of a team that offers services to private and government sector clients throughout Ontario and provides engineering solutions for bridges, buildings, and utility scale power generating facilities. This is a new position. The salary range for this position is $75,000 – $92,000 annually.

What You’ll Do

• Perform pre-engineering inspections and surveys
• Complete, check, and review technical deliverables including reports, technical notes, drawings, and engineering calculations
• Prepare plans, proposals, specifications, supporting documents, reports, and permit applications
• Complete preliminary and detailed design and specifications for structural projects (e.g. transportation structures and commercial, residential, and industrial buildings)
• Assist with tenders, proposals, and cost estimates
• Participate in public and stakeholder consultation
• Perform construction inspections
• Assist with project management and construction administration

Who You Are

• You are a registered Civil Engineering Intern
• You have 0-3 years of experience in the civil/structural consulting industry
• Building Code knowledge and/or a BCIN is considered an asset
• You are proficient in AutoCAD
• Bridge design experience is an asset
• You are willing to travel when necessary
• You can exercise independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives
• You are not afraid to raise your hand when you need help or guidance
