Structural Engineer

Jackson Hogg is delighted to be recruiting for a Structural Engineer on behalf of a leading project delivery specialist providing full turnkey EPC solutions to the bulk material handling and plant processing markets.

Key Responsibilities of the Structural Engineer
  • Review project specifications and confirm the scope of structural works.
  • Prepare Civil/Structural Basis of Design summaries and ensure designs align with project requirements.
  • Develop and validate structural analysis models to generate accurate loadings and assess structural performance.
  • Produce hand calculations, technical drawings, and calculation reports to support project documentation.
  • Check outputs to ensure analytical models, calculations, and drawings are accurate and compliant.
  • Support design checking processes and quality assurance requirements.
  • Attend site surveys, client meetings, and design/model reviews as required.
  • Escalate any changes to scope or technical queries promptly to the Project Engineer.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 processes, quality standards, and company policies.
  • Contribute to team knowledge sharing, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements of the Structural Engineer
Essential
  • BEng (Hons) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Proven experience in civil/structural design within engineering or construction environments.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (STAAD Pro or Tekla Structures).
  • Strong understanding of load cases, structural behaviour, and compliance with codes and standards.
  • Experience producing technical reports, drawings, and calculations.
  • Excellent time management and ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable
  • Experience in bulk material handling, plant processing, or heavy engineering sectors.
  • Knowledge of additional analysis or design software.
  • Experience in site surveys and interfacing with contractors or clients.
