Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in the United Kingdom seeks a Bridge Engineer to join the Bridges and Civils team within the Transportation business. You will develop high-quality civil and structural designs for new constructions, renewals, maintenance and assessments to support key projects across the UK and Ireland.

You will collaborate with national and international design teams, apply analytical skills and engineering judgement to choose optimal solutions, and produce comprehensive design documentation

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Near Chartered/Chartered status with ICE or IStructE.
• Experience working with key clients (e.g. Transport Scotland, National Highways, Network Rail, local authorities, contractors).
• Good understanding of design standards (Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW, Network Rail).

As a Bridge Engineer in our Bridges and Civils team within the Transportation business, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of transport. We work on a diverse range of significant and challenging projects across the UK and Ireland, including Lower Thames Crossing, highways works for Sizewell C and Heathrow, and key schemes across the M25 for Connect Plus Services. The team also supports non-transportation civil engineering and structural projects throughout the UK and internationally, such as Hinkley Point C, Transporter Bridge, and Moonshot. We also deliver a wide range of local authority projects for councils across the South, including Buckinghamshire Council, Surrey County Council and Cambridgeshire County Council. You'll take pride in producing high-quality civil and structural designs for new builds, renewals, maintenance and assessments. You'll experience real satisfaction in helping to shape robust, high-quality infrastructure across all stages of design and delivery.

Your role

• Collaborate with both national and international design teams, utilizing your experience to create positive, sustainable impacts on society and the environment.
• Use analytical skills to derive potential solutions to engineering problems and engineering judgement to appraise different options and recommend the most suitable option.
• Undertake technical work independently, including the production of high-quality design documentation including sketches, drawings, 3D BIM deliverables, analysis models, calculations, reports and specifications.
• Provide guidance and support for more junior members of staff.
• Support on bids, tenders and winning work.
• Sound interpersonal skills and ability to converse with a wide range of colleagues across a number of engineering disciplines.

About you

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Near Chartered/Chartered status and membership of the ICE or IStructE.
• Experience of working on projects with key clients such as Transport Scotland and National Highways, Network Rail, local authorities as well as major Contractors and Developers.
• Good understanding of relevant design standards (e.g. Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW and Network Rail standards).
