Job description

FM Conway is seeking a talented and motivated Structural Engineer to join our growing Consultancy team. As a Structural Engineer, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of highways structures and infrastructure projects across our portfolio. Reporting directly to the Senior Engineer, you will contribute to the development of quality engineering solutions, undertaking structural calculations, preparing technical reports and providing design support to help ensure successful project delivery.

Unlike traditional consultancies, our engineers work closely with delivery teams, providing opportunities to influence projects from concept design through construction. This offers valuable exposure to the practical application of design decisions and allows engineers to see projects through their full lifecycle.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical expertise within a collaborative highways structures team, while progressing your professional development and working towards chartership. You will be involved in supporting project coordination, applying structural analysis and engineering judgement, and working in accordance with relevant standards, including DMRB and Eurocodes.

This is a full-time, permanent position, based from our London Office.

The duties of the Structural Engineer will include:

  • Undertaking structural calculations and supporting the development of engineering design solutions
  • Preparing technical reports and other supporting engineering documentation
  • Providing design support to highways structures and infrastructure projects
  • Applying structural analysis techniques and sound engineering judgement to support high-quality technical outcomes
  • Considering relevant design standards and guidance, including DMRB and Eurocodes
  • Supporting project coordination and contributing to the successful delivery of projects
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and wider project teams to achieve project objectives
  • Communicating effectively with colleagues, clients and other stakeholders to support successful project delivery
What skills and experience do you need?

We are seeking a motivated Structural Engineer with a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and experience in highways structures. You will have good communication skills and an interest in developing your technical knowledge and professional competence within a growing highways structures team.

You will have an understanding of structural analysis, technical reporting and engineering judgement, together with knowledge of relevant standards, including DMRB and Eurocodes. You will be keen to learn, develop your skills and progress towards chartership while contributing to the delivery of engineering projects.

We are looking for someone who can think independently while working collaboratively as part of a team, demonstrate a strong customer focus and deliver excellent customer service. You will have good commercial awareness, strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. You will also demonstrate honesty, respect for others and an understanding of equality and diversity.
