About the role

Balfour Beatty is currently recruiting Structural CAD Technicians to join the Power T&D team in Derby.

The purpose of the role is to work with the structural design team to interpret design information and produce assembly/fabrication drawings and bill of quantities for structural steelwork.

We are open to both full-time and part-time candidates (including job share) and offer a flexible working policy.

What you'll be doing
  1. Use CAD software to produce 2D & 3D models of structural steelwork.
  2. Provide technical support to project stakeholders, e.g., site operatives, commercial team, fabricators.
  3. Ensure compliance with the Group Minimum Engineering Expectations.
  4. Highlight good/bad practice to ensure continuous improvement.
  5. Manage your own tasks and deliver them to program and budget.
  6. Produce engineering estimates for large-sized projects.
  7. Ensure work is carried out in line with client and industry specifications.
Who we're looking for
  • Excellent literacy & numeracy skills, GCSE level 6 minimum.
  • Competent in developing 3D models, producing general arrangement drawings, fabrication drawings, and bill of materials for structural steelwork.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel.
