Job summary

QinetiQ Limited in Farnborough is seeking an Engineer - Structural Analysis to support the Structural Analysis and Optimisation capability. You will apply finite element analysis to simulate the response of complex assemblies for military and aerospace programs.

The role involves developing and validating novel simulation methods, contributing to safety cases and de-risking high-value test activities across air, land, maritime and space domains, with travel to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
Experience with finite element modelling (ABAQUS).
Ability to deliver projects with novel research and traditional assessments.
Knowledge of adjacent disciplines such as design, manufacturing, materials, aerodynamics/hydrodynamics.
Ability to write quality technical reports and presentations.
Experience in aerospace/space or weapons domains is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Structural analysis of large, complex assemblies to support major military products.
Stress analysis of aircraft modifications and trials installations for military aircraft and fleet.
Assessment of drone collisions using validated simulations and tests.
Development/validation of simulation methods to evaluate directed energy weapons effects.
Support development of novel technologies for future UK aircraft.
De-risking large composite structures for UK maritime programmes.
