Job summary

Wye Valley NHS Trust in Hereford is seeking a highly motivated Registered Adult Nurse to join the Stroke Team on Hereford County Hospital's Wye Ward. The 26-bed unit combines a 6-bed HASU with 20 beds for acute and rehabilitation care, focusing on the initial and recovery phases of stroke care.

You will support the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality patient care, maintain confidentiality and participate in staff induction while upholding infection control and safeguarding

Qualifications

• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and hold a valid NMC PIN.
• Band 4 Nursing associate can be considered.

Responsibilities

• Act on concerns relating to cleanliness, hazards and patient safety within the clinical area.
• Ensure the nursing and medical team are regularly updated on patients' condition and progress.
• Ensure the equipment is clean and in good working order and that damaged or faulty equipment is reported correctly.
• Ensure the environment is clean and tidy.
• Participate in the induction of staff new to the clinical area.
• Minimize hazards in the working area and report identifiable hazards to the ward sister and adhere to safe systems of work.
• Demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing, to ensure dissemination of information.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Promote awareness of child protection issues referring to area child protection policy and Trust policy; attend child protection training.
• Promote awareness of adult protection issues referring to the Herefordshire Multi-Agency Policy and Procedures for The Protection of Vulnerable Adults from Abuse; attend adult protection training sessions.
