Job summary

Wye Valley NHS Trust, located on the border with Wales and serving Herefordshire, provides acute and community services across Herefordshire and into parts of Powys, including Hereford County Hospital and the community hospitals in Bromyard, Leominster and Ross-on-Wye.

The trust promotes multidisciplinary, patient-centred care and offers opportunities to lead on the ward in the absence of senior staff, with a strong focus on teamwork, education and quality of care for patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Support the Ward/Departmental Manager and their deputy in the execution of their role.
• Demonstrate effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
• Work as an associate nurse/deputy team leader taking on the role of named primary nurse and team leader in the absence of a more senior nurse.
• Demonstrate basic leadership skills and participate in the education and supervision of all staff and students.
• Demonstrate an awareness of national and local professional issues.
• Demonstrate a valid input to the professional team at Ward/Department level.
• To undertake family centered care when dealing with the patients and their families.
• To provide information and assistance with child protection issues along with attending case conference, child concern conferences.
• Ensure that all documentation relating to patents are filled in both
