Job summary

Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist for a Band 6 post within the stroke rehabilitation team. The role focuses on specialist OT for stroke and neurological conditions, managing a caseload and planning goals and discharge with patients and families.

Work is largely community and home-based with a weekend rota; supervision of Band 5s, rehab assistants and students is involved, and HCPC registration with 2+ years' experience is essential.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration is required.
• Minimum of two years' experience as an occupational therapist.
• Experience with stroke patients in community or inpatient settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist, personalised occupational therapy rehabilitation in patients' homes and community settings.
• Manage own caseload autonomously with supervision and senior OT support.
• Complete neurological assessments and set person-centred goals.
• Deliver and adapt evidence-based treatment plans using standard tools.
• Coordinate care with patients, families and the MDT and plan discharge.
• Supervise Band 5 OTs, rehabilitation assistants and students.
• Obtain informed consent and work within legal frameworks.
