Job summary

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant Stroke Physician to work across all parts of the stroke service, including hyper acute and rehabilitation units. The post offers 10 programmed activities within a 24/7 service and a busy, nationally recognised stroke pathway.

Joining a dedicated team, you will contribute to stroke research and collaborate with the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre, mentoring junior staff and shaping service development across the NUH

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration.
• CCT expected within 6 months of interview date OR via CESR route, must have confirmation of RCP approval to be entered onto the Specialist Register.
• MRCP.
• Higher professional degree.
• Evidence of participation in Clinical Audit.
• Able to teach and support junior staff effectively.
• Original Research Publications Higher teaching degree or qualification or training.
• Able to work flexibly in a changing health service.
• Able to use the Trust's IT support systems.
• Extensive experience in Stroke Medicine.
• Experience in hyper acute stroke care and trained and experienced in thrombolysis.
• Comprehensive knowledge of current issues in general internal medicine.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant input to hyper acute stroke, acute stroke, intensive rehabilitation and continuing stroke rehabilitation.
• Develop and enhance the existing stroke pathway in line with national best practice.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team and support junior staff in clinical care and education.
