Job summary

Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is expanding its Stroke Team and inviting applications for a Stroke Consultant Physician based at the Dorchester site. The role involves day-to-day stroke care within a developing Hyper Acute Stroke unit and participation in the strategic expansion of stroke services across the region.

The post includes clinical leadership, teaching, and involvement in audit, research and governance to sustain high standards of care.

Responsibilities

• In-patient and out-patient care for patients referred with suspected stroke or TIA
• Participate in clinical audits, research and governance to maintain high standards of patient care
• Contribute to the provision of a 24-hour acute stroke service delivering thrombolysis and advising on other treatments
• Contribute to consultant ward rounds at weekends and public holidays
• Provide clinical advice for community stroke services as required
• Provide continuing medical education and teach undergraduate and postgraduate learners
• Support development of clinical quality and effectiveness in stroke care integration
