Job description

Maximising Students Opportunities & Potential

Tailored interventions for students missing out on or struggling to stay in education, college/university, work placement, or employment.

The roadmap involves identifying the plan, actions, steps, and movements needed to reach your destination, goal, or achievement.

Holistic approach to effectively de-escalate crises and equip students with tools and skills for mental wellbeing.

Targets are based around social and personal pathways.

Are you struggling or have gaps in areas such as confidence, self-esteem, stress, life balance, relationships, career, or anger management? Do you seek solutions to move forward constructively for successful outcomes?

Comprehensive steps and a roadmap to maximise opportunities, potential, and fuel ambitions.

Understanding what triggers your stress and anxiety is crucial.

This understanding helps you reduce, deal with, and even prevent stress and anxiety.

Having an action plan or tasks to undertake before or during stressful or anxious episodes can be helpful.

You may not always solve the issue, but you can reduce its impact, manage it better, and overcome it—being prepared is key.

Let's look at some helpful strategies to consider:

  1. If possible, remove yourself from the environment and take a timeout for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Practice relaxation exercises: breathe deeply for 4 seconds in, then exhale slowly for 5 seconds, lowering shoulders as you do. Repeat as needed.
  3. Use stress balls to improve concentration, reduce anxiety, blood pressure, and arthritis symptoms. Use them at work, home, and everywhere in between.
  4. Sit with trusted and understanding people when possible.
  5. Find a relaxed space with fresh air, near a door or window if needed.
  6. If you don’t feel like talking, listen and contribute as you feel comfortable.
  7. Avoid triggers that may worsen symptoms.
  8. Keep a diary or logbook of effective strategies and progress, building confidence and self-esteem.
  9. Engage in hobbies or sports like yoga, gym, swimming, cycling, or brisk walks for 15-30 minutes.
  10. Prioritize health: regular relaxation, unwinding, and sleep.
  11. Consider meditation or listening to soothing music regularly.
  12. Avoid bottling feelings; use self-talk, coaching, or counseling.
  13. Convert negative thoughts into positive actions and maintain a positive outlook.
  14. Stay hydrated and eat nutritious meals regularly.
  15. Accept compliments and recognize your worth.

Visit therapeutic, stress-free places when possible to relax and unwind.

  • Keeping a diary helps identify stress triggers and aids diagnosis.
  • Talking about triggers helps prevent stress episodes.
  • Connect with positive, supportive people.
  • Accept what cannot be changed.

Set up a successful workshop with Oakleaf Enterprise, a charity in Guildford, Surrey. Participants learn skills and techniques to reduce and prevent stress, with handouts, action plans, and goals. The sessions foster a relaxed atmosphere, sharing experiences and building friendships, providing much-needed support for mental health issues.

Personal Problems Can Affect / Professional Performance

Stress, anxiety, and depression are common reasons for staff absenteeism and long-term leave, impacting team workload and morale.

Having in place a life coach or mentor can support staff in overcoming personal or professional issues that affect work performance.

Early intervention helps prevent problems from escalating and reduces time off. Referring staff for coaching or mentoring can help maintain health and wellbeing and reduce absenteeism.

Does your organization offer such services? Could they benefit your employees and organization?

I offer coaching and mentoring sessions, including tailored programs to help employees overcome barriers, rebuild confidence, and enhance wellbeing—"The best you can be."
