Job summary

Capgemini Engineering is seeking FE/Stress Engineers with a focus on space systems. The role involves delivering Finite Element studies and analytical stress reports for satellite payloads, panels and space hardware. The candidate should hold a engineering degree and have aerospace stress experience.

Hybrid working is offered along with access to digital learning platforms and active networks such as OutFront, CapAbility and Women@Capgemini. Clear SC security is noted as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level in engineering or a related scientific discipline, ideally Mechanical.
• Experience of stress engineering in aerospace.
• Experience using HYPERWORKS and NASTRAN for FE modelling and analysis.
• Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes desirable.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately to follow client needs.
• Excellent communication skills with a good level of verbal and written English.

Responsibilities

• Understand and study stress analysis workflow as prescribed by the customer. This can include static, dynamic analysis, acoustics and specific post-processing tools.
• Perform Finite Elements analysis: modify/adapt geometry, develop/update models with appropriate idealisation and boundary conditions, verification/validation, run simulations and post-processing.
• Perform analytical stress calculations using textbook-based or prescribed methods and tools.
• Present and report progress and results, internally and externally.
• Write technical reports.

Our offer

Capgemini Engineering are looking to recruit FE/Stress Engineers with particular focus on space systems.

Structural Analysis consultant – your role will be to deliver Finite Element studies as well as analytical stress reports applied to Space Systems (satellite payloads, panels, satellite structural assemblies, equipment, ground support equipment).

Your profile

• Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific discipline, ideally Mechanical.
• Experience of stress engineering in aerospace.
• Experience using HYPERWORKS and NASTRAN for FE modelling and analysis.
• Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes desirable.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately to follow client needs.
• Communication and customer-facing skills.
• Team player, able to work effectively and to short timescales with others in a busy environment.
• Proactive attitude and ability to communicate and report at different levels.
• Excellent communication skills with a good level of verbal and written English.
• Knowledge of FEMAP could be a plus.

Your role

  • perform verification/validation activities;

  • perform post-processing and analysis of results.
• Perform analytical stress calculations using either textbook-based or prescribed methods and tools.
• Present and report progress and results, internally and externally.
• Write technical reports.
