Job summary

Certain Advantage is seeking a Stress Engineer to deliver structural and stress analysis packages for marine mechanical and hybrid structures in the UK. You will work across projects, applying robust methods and knowledge of materials to ensure safety and compliance.

The role involves leading analysis from scoping to delivery, communicating results to clients, and contributing to design recommendations while maintaining meticulous documentation.

Qualifications

  • Experience in structural or stress analysis within maritime, defence, industrial, or other regulated sectors.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical structures, load paths, and material behaviour.
  • Ability to evaluate ageing or degraded structures and apply sound engineering judgement in the presence of incomplete data.
  • Proficient in structural hand calculations, analytical methods, and finite element analysis (FEA) tools.
  • Effective communicator, confident in presenting technical information to clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Certain Advantage is partnering with a key client to recruit a Stress Engineer. You’ll be responsible for delivering structural and stress analysis packages for a wide range of marine mechanical and hybrid structures.

What will you be doing?
  • Assess structural integrity by accounting for environmental loads, material degradation, and ageing mechanisms.
