Job summary

Brighton & Hove City Council is seeking a Street Works Manager to lead a skilled team responsible for coordinating activity on the city’s roads and streets. The role focuses on minimising disruption, ensuring statutory compliance and driving innovation in street works management.

You will report to the Head of Network Management and oversee Lane Rental delivery, compliance inspections, and collaboration across services and external partners to keep the highway safe and functional.

Qualifications

• Experience leading street works or highway projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement.
• Budget management and forecasting.
• Knowledge of NRSWA, Traffic Management Act, and related legislation.
• Ability to lead and develop staff.
• Experience with Lane Rental or roadworks coordination is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Street Works team and coordinate road works and events.
• Develop and implement Lane Rental strategy.
• Ensure compliance with NRSWA, Traffic Management Act, and Highway Act.
• Prepare reports for Council committees and boards.
• Manage budgets, resources and performance across the street works function.
