Job summary

VolkerHighways is seeking a Highways Electrical Operative to support electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance on the Street Lighting contract across Luton. You will work under the Site Supervisor delivering safe, high-quality workmanship on a range of urban infrastructure projects.

Key tasks include assisting with installations, managing emergency responses, testing and fault diagnosis, and maintaining vehicles and tools to a high standard.

Qualifications

• Highways maintenance experience is essential or desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of signs/columns, bollards and related equipment.
• Provide 24-hour emergency response/out of hours standby.
• Assist with installation of new build works.
• Carry out works as directed by Site Supervisor safely within scope of duties.
• Electrical inspection and testing including periodic testing.
• Fault diagnosis and repair of electrical faults.

We have the capability to deliver major surfacing and public realm infrastructure projects. Our specialist in-house traffic management division provides expert advice and support across the industry, whilst assisting with our own, in-house contracts.

About us

We have a fantastic opportunity for Highways Electrical Operative to work on our Street Lighting contract across Luton. You will be responsible for providing support for electrical installations, repairs, planned maintenance and new installations.

Key responsibilities:

• Assisting with the installation of signs / columns, bollards and associated equipment
• 24-hour Emergency Response / Out of Hours Standby
• Assisting with the installation of any new build works
• Carry out works as instructed by the Site Supervisor in a safe manner, within the scope if relevant duties
• Electrical inspection and testing including periodic testing
• Fault diagnosis and repair

Ensure vehicles are maintained to a high standard, with vehicle defect sheet completed correctly

About you

• Some Highways maintenance experience
• Comfortable working from height
• Commutable to Luton depot
• Preferable registration to Highways Electrical Level 3 NVQ
• SWQR Qualification
• Safe Isolation / G39
• Street Lighting Installations experience
• MEWP Operator
• ECS H&S Test
• First Aid
