Job summary

VolkerHighways is seeking a qualified Electrician to support the Street Lighting project in Bridgewater, Somerset. You will assist with electrical installations, repairs and planned maintenance, ensuring high safety and quality standards.

The role requires experience in street lighting, strict adherence to site rules, and relevant qualifications (NRSWA, SWQR, G39). A valid driving licence (up to 3.5t) is preferred and a MEWP operator should be comfortable with site duties.

Qualifications

• Street Lighting installations experience is preferred.
• Demonstrates good awareness of site rules and company policies.
• Relevant safety qualifications (NRSWA, G39, SWQR) are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of street lighting signs, columns and equipment.
• Provide 24-hour emergency response/out of hours standby.
• Assist with new build works and routine maintenance of street lighting.
• Carry out electrical inspection, testing and fault diagnosis as instructed.

Job description

We have the capability to deliver major surfacing and public realm infrastructure projects. Our specialist in-house traffic management division provides expert advice and support across the industry, whilst assisting with our own, in-house contracts.

About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Electrician to work on our Street Lighting project in Bridgewater, Somerset. You will be responsible for providing support for electrical installations, repairs, planned maintenance and new installations.

Key responsibilities:

• Assistingwith the installation of signs/columns,bollardsand associated equipment
• 24-hourEmergency Response/Out of Hours Standby
• Assistingwith the installation of any new build works
• Carry out works as instructed by the Site Supervisor in a safe manner, within the scope if relevantduties
• Electrical inspection and testing including periodic testing
• Fault diagnosis and repair
• Ensure vehicles aremaintainedto a high standard, with vehicle defect sheet completed correctly

About you

• Ideally 3 years Street Lighting installations experience
• Mustdemonstrategood awareness of site andcompany rules
• Safe Isolation / G39
• SWQR Qualification

• ECS H&S Test
• First Aid (Appointed Person)
• 18th Edition Electrical
• Preferable registration to Highways Electrical Level 3 NVQ
