Job summary

Bradford Council is seeking Street Lighting Operatives to join the Department of Growth. You will maintain street lighting assets to keep highways well lit for residents and highway users, following the Smart Street Lighting project implementation.

The role involves team-based maintenance and installation of lighting and other highway electrical equipment across the district. Key duties include testing faults, producing reports, updating asset information, and driving specialist vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Working as part of a team carrying out maintenance and installation of street lighting and other highway electrical equipment
• Testing and fault diagnosis of street lighting columns, signs etc. and ensuring compliance with IEE wiring regulations
• Surveying equipment and producing reports in written or electronic format and updating information on the asset management system
• Driving of various vehicles including MEWPS, LGV/HGV's, and other specialsit plant
• Participate as required in the street lighting emergency response and winter maintenance operations

The street lighting unit comprises a design, maintenance and operational staff as well as our sign shop. This creates a wide range of duties and roles for our staff with lots of variety working across the whole of the district.
