VolkerHighways is recruiting an Electrician for our Street Lighting project in Bridgewater, Somerset. You will support electrical installations, repairs and planned maintenance, ensuring safety and high standards across site operations.

Ideal candidates have 3 years of street lighting installation experience, with 18th Edition, NRSWA, G39 isolation, SWQR, and valid licences. We offer competitive pay, benefits and development opportunities within VolkerWessels UK.

• NRSWA (Network Rail Street Works) qualification.
• G39 Safe Isolation competency.
• SWQR qualification for street works supervision.
• MEWP operation certification.
• ECS H&S Test certificate.
• First Aid (Appointed Person).
• Manual Handling awareness.
• Highways Electrical Level 3 NVQ (preferred).
• Driving licence to operate up to 3.5 tonnes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of signs, columns, bollards and related equipment.
• Provide 24-hour emergency response / out-of-hours standby.
• Assist with new build street lighting works.
• Carry out safe, instructed electrical tasks.
• Perform electrical inspection and testing including periodic checks.
• Diagnose faults and repair lighting systems.
• Maintain company vehicles and complete defect sheets.

About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Electrician to work on our Street Lighting project in Bridgewater, Somerset. You will be responsible for providing support for electrical installations, repairs, planned maintenance and new installations.

Key responsibilities

• Assisting with the installation of signs / columns, bollards and associated equipment
• 24-hour Emergency Response / Out of Hours Standby
• Assisting with the installation of any new build works
• Carry out works as instructed by the Site Supervisor in a safe manner, within the scope if relevant duties
• Electrical inspection and testing including periodic testing
• Fault diagnosis and repair
• Ensure vehicles are maintained to a high standard, with vehicle defect sheet completed correctly

About you

• Ideally 3 years Street Lighting installations experience
• Must demonstrate good awareness of site and company rules
• Safe Isolation / G39
• SWQR Qualification
• NRSWA
• MEWP Operator
• ECS H&S Test
• First Aid (Appointed Person)
• Manual Handling

• Preferable registration to Highways Electrical Level 3 NVQ
