Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a design engineer to assist in planning, organizing, and overseeing highway lighting and design projects from concept to completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or related field.
• Proven highway lighting project experience.
• Familiarity with the DMRB and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, and overseeing design projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
• Undertaking lighting designs using Lighting Reality design or similar software.
• Undertaking electrical designs using associated software.
• Prepare and maintain design documentation including briefs, timelines, and works information.
• Ensure all files are organized and accessible.
• Management of external consultants undertaking designs.
• Review design outputs for accuracy and consistency with project goals, the DMRB and standards liaising with engineers.
• Resolving engineering issues on site and with design teams.
• Creating and managing trackers for deliverables.
• Production of O&M manuals and H&S files.
• Collect and organize feedback from supply chain, client, and internal teams.
• Stay updated on DMRB changes and share insights with the team to achieve solutions.

• Assist in planning, organizing, and overseeing design projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget
• Undertaking lighting designs using Lighting Reality design or similar software
• Undertaking electrical designs using associated software
• Prepare and maintain design documentation, including project briefs, timelines, and works information
• Ensure all files are organized and accessible
• Management of external consultants undertaking designs
• Review design outputs for accuracy and consistency, ensuring they align with project goals, the DMRB and relevant standards liaising with internal and external engineers
• Resolving engineering issues both on site and with design teams
• Creating and managing trackers/ registers for engineering/ design deliverables
• Production / collation of O&M manuals and H&S files
• Collect and organize feedback from the supply chain, client, and internal teams, ensuring it is communicated effectively
• Stay updated on the DMRB and changes in standards and best practices, sharing insights with the team to achieve solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or related field preferred
• ILP Exterior Lighting Diploma preferred
• Proven experience in a Highway Lighting project
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A keen eye for detail
• Familiarity with the DMRB, MCHW and British and European regulations and standards
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and timelines
• Passion for design and a desire to contribute to a creative team
