Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is looking for a dedicated professional to join their Lighting and Energy Solutions team. This role involves interfacing with various stakeholders, producing detailed design layouts, and engaging in technical evaluations and site visits.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in the use of Lighting Reality or Dialux lighting design software.
  • Demonstrated competency in lighting design from conception to issue for construction.
  • Experience working within the Local Government or Strategic Road Network sectors.

Responsibilities
  • Liaison with colleagues within the Lighting and Energy Solutions team, wider multi-disciplinary design teams, stakeholders and clients.
  • Production of detailed design layouts, engineering detailed drawings and support documentation in accordance with WSP's Quality Assurance and client requirements.
  • Preparation of feasibility reports and technical notes, optioneering reports and specifications.
  • Engagement with luminaire, column, controls and electrical manufacturers.
  • Co-ordination with contractors including site support, responding to RFIs and TQs.
  • Completion of non-intrusive site visits to support the development of lighting assessments and site clearance drawings.
  • Support with the development of project proposals and progress against agreed programme milestones and budget constraints.
  • Liaison with Local Authority clients, assisting in building strong working relationships with clients in the Local Government Sector.
  • Analyse and evaluate client briefs, offering expert guidance and tailored support.
  • Assist and guide Early Career Professionals on their career journeys.
  • Represent WSP within the lighting industry, fostering industry relationships and driving business development.
Team
  • You will be joining a growing, multi-disciplinary, energetic team of lighting professionals highly regarded within the industry, covering Electrical and EV, Environmental, Local Government, Architectural and Strategic Road Network specialisms.
  • You will be part of a global network of lighting specialists and experts.
  • You will have the opportunity to join or maintain a professional membership, with mentorship available to assist with membership upgrades.
  • You will have access to regular CPD sessions on a variety of topics and advanced training programs for personal development.
  • The team works on projects in Commercial, Urban Realm, Transportation and Infrastructure sectors with national, local government and private clients.
Qualifications
  • Proficient in the use of Lighting Reality or Dialux lighting design software and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of external lighting standards, guidance, legislation and regulations.
  • Good general awareness and understanding of electrical design and lighting maintenance operations.
  • Demonstrated competency and experience in lighting design from conception through to issue for construction.
  • Good understanding of central management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Capability to coach and develop junior team members.
  • Experience working within the Local Government or Strategic Road Network sectors.
  • Good knowledge of external lighting products.
  • Membership of a relevant professional organisation, having achieved EngTech registration with the Engineering Council and actively working towards IEng status.
