Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking an experienced Electrician/Street Light Operative for an immediate start in Sittingbourne, Kent (ME10). The role involves street lighting maintenance and installation on a highway contract, offering ongoing long-term work with a reputable highway services contractor.

You will install, repair and maintain street lighting columns, lanterns and LED units, operate MEWPs, and coordinate underground cables while following traffic management rules and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• HERS/ECS Card is essential.
• IPAF ticket for powered access platforms.
• G39 certificate preferred; working near electrical networks.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence preferred (C1/HGV a plus).

Responsibilities

• Installing, replacing, and maintaining street lighting columns, lanterns, and LED units.
• Diagnosing electrical faults and carrying out basic repairs on highway electrical infrastructure.
• Operating MEWPs/bucket trucks for high-level works.
• Laying, terminating, and joining underground cables connected to feeder pillars.
• Adhering to Chapter 8 traffic management rules and site safety protocols.

Education

HERS Card / ECS Card (Highway Electrical Registration Scheme)

IPAF Ticket (Category 1b or 3b)

G39 Certificate (Working safely near electricity supply networks)

BS 7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations

Full UK Driving Licence (C1 / HGV a plus)
